Mokpo Port Festival
*The festival details below are from last year's (2025) festival, and the 2026 festival details are currently being updated.* Mokpo opened its port in 1897 and, as a center of trade and logistics transportation, once enjoyed the glory of being one of the nation's 3 major ports and 6 major cities, leading the revival of the local economy, and today serves as a central city in the southwest coastal hinterland. The Mokpo Port Festival widely shares its historical value by recreating the traditional open-air market of Mokpo Port, filled with the smell of the harbor, at Samhakdo, where legends coexist, as the only festival in the country to do so. It is also an autumn festival filled with events that capture the romance of Mokpo Port, such as auctions of seasonal seafood using in-season marine products, and grilling or cooking the seafood won at auction right away.
