D-45Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival
The Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival is Suwon’s representative comprehensive cultural and arts festival, presented with a modern sensibility based on King Jeongjo’s 8-day royal progress to Hwaseong in 1795. The historical moments recorded in the *Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongri Uigwe* are brought back to life through performances, parades, hands-on experiences, and citizen participation programs, and unfold around the UNESCO World Heritage Site Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and Hwaseong Haenggung Palace. The representative program, ‘Royal Procession of Crown Prince Jeongjo’s Royal Tomb Visit,’ is the largest royal parade in Korea enjoyed together by citizens and tourists, showing the festival’s grand appeal. In addition, visitors can enjoy traditional culture experiences and participatory programs during the day, and high-quality performance content that harmonizes with Suwon Hwaseong’s beautiful scenery at night, offering domestic and international tourists a special festival experience.
