The festival takes place every January when the Hwacheon Stream, famous for its clear water, freezes solid, and visitors can experience catching sancheoneo, known as the queen of mountain streams, through ice fishing, catching them with bare hands, and more. You can enjoy the fun of ice fishing for sancheoneo and eat them right away as sashimi or grilled fish, and beyond fishing, a variety of winter activities such as ice sledding, snow sledding, and bobsleigh are offered, drawing more than 1000000 visitors every year.
