Namsan Bongsu Ritual and Other Traditional Cultural Events
Namsan Bongsu Ritual and Other Traditional Cultural Events is a project hosted by Seoul City that recreates communication methods from the Joseon period, introduces Korea's unique traditional culture to citizens and domestic and international visitors, and provides opportunities to experience culture. Namsan Bongsudae was an important communication means in the Joseon period, gathering signals from beacon towers across the country and informing the capital of the situation. Visitors can watch the Namsan Bongsu Ritual at Namsan Bongsudae and listen to historical commentary. In addition, the Boshingak Citizens' Regular Bell-Ringing Event, rung every day at noon, is a participatory event with citizens and tourists. At the Octagonal Pavilion Plaza of Seoul Namsan Tower, visitors can watch samulnori performances and demonstrations of traditional martial arts. There are also hands-on programs such as a daily Gyeongjeonggwan experience and a daily Bongsu messenger experience.
