*The festival information below is based on the previous year's (2025) festival, and the 2026 festival details are currently being updated.* The Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival originated from the floating of lanterns on the Namgang River to block the Japanese army from crossing the river during the Battle of Jinju Fortress in the Imjin War, and to send news to family members. It is an excellent festival expanding overseas that was designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a representative festival of the Republic of Korea, and was selected as a Korea Global Cultivation Festival for 5 consecutive years.
